2001 Audi A6 Quattro 2.8 generator replacement Procedure
Preparation of the vehicle, you can either put the car on ramps or you can place it on the jack-stands and remove the front wheel. Make sure that you order the correct generator with the correct amperage. You can wait for your new generator, until you see what an old look. Mine was 120A. Be sure to have your defective generator is tested to ensure that this is the part fails. You can be sure when you order a new generator that you get with the friction disc is guaranteed already installed. I tried to buy an auto parts store and AutoLite from disc from the old generator would not work at AutoLite. I think this is the same for some Bosch and. I think friction disc are secured configuration varies. You can also replace v belt when you get it for this repair anyway. You can also replace your power steering fluid, when you are finished with the repair, then you should do this regularly anyway.
Remember to carry out any unnecessary dismantling.
Step 1: REMOVE UNNECESSARY HARDWARE
Remove plastic skid plate at the bottom of the engine compartment. Remove the plastic cover from within the engine compartment. This includes the removable robust stripping, hood and engine room. Remove the cover, which is against the firewall, which houses the battery. Remove cover from power steering fluid reservoir.
Step 2: DISCONNECT BATTERY
Be sure to use caution.
Step 3: REMOVE the FRONT BUMPER ASSEMBLY
Remove the inside wheel wells. They are kept around 14 different bolts. Remove black housings that covers the area where the fog lights. They are simply cropped in and requires some drag to remove. Disconnect rear fog light electrical connections for each fog light from under the car. Remove the 2 bolts (1 on each side) in the car where two metal pieces Join in support. Disconnect the front bumper wiper spray electrical connection for each the wiper motor. Interrupt line spray on the driver page. There is a plastic art, to be removed carefully so that the line simply subtracts from each other. Use a baggie and zip tie to secure the end of the line from reservoir to control losses of Wiper fluid.
