1993 Suzuki Sidekick JLX Timing Belt removal and Installation

1. disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove right side engine under cover pages. Remove the power steering and a/c Compressor drive Belts. 2. remove the a/c compressor and power steering pump with hoses attached, and secure way. Support engine from above or with the word jack during the oil pan. Remove the air cleaner case with air cleaner outlet hose. 3. remove the engine mount and mounting bracket from timing belt exit of the engine. Loosen the water pump friction disc is guaranteed bolts. Remove the water pump drive belt and friction disc is guaranteed. 4. Remove 5 crankshaft friction disc is secured to the crankshaft, bolts. Remove friction disc is guaranteed. It is not necessary to remove the crankshaft center bolt. Remove the timing belt cover. See Figure 1. 5. Rotate the crankshaft clockwise to adjust the timing marks. See Figure 2 and Figure 3. Plunger "E" on the camshaft sprocket to pointing straight up. Loosen the timing belt skewer bolt and stud nut. Move the skewer away from the belt, and hand-tighten the bolt and nut. See Figure 4. 6. If reusing old belt, mark belt with an arrow indicating the direction of rotation installation reference. Remove the timing belt.

Removal (Sidekick, Vitara and X-90)
1. disconnect the negative battery cable. Remote accessory drive Belts. Remove the radiator cooling fan, water pump friction disc is secured and fan's shroud. It may be necessary to drain the cooling system and remove the upper radiator hose and remove the fan's shroud. 2. Remove 5 crankshaft friction disc is secured to the crankshaft, bolts. Remove friction disc is guaranteed. It is not necessary to remove the crankshaft center bolt. Remove the timing belt cover. See Figure 1. 3. Rotate the crankshaft clockwise to adjust the timing marks. See Figure 2 and Figure 3. Plunger "E" or Gouge mark on camshaft sprocket, straight up. Loosen the timing belt skewer bolt and stud nut. Move the skewer away from the belt, and hand-tighten the bolt and nut. See Figure 4. If reusing old belt, mark belt with an arrow indicating the direction of rotation installation reference. Remove the timing belt.
