Steering column 1992, Mitsubishi Mirage

Steering system consists of a solid steering shaft lower Joint Assembly. Stealth and 3000GT models are equipped with additional restraint system (SRS), includes pillows and clockspring, located in the steering column. Warning: stealth and 3000GT before doing repair, unplug, and insulate the Earth battery. Disconnect the SRS on the control unit connector. Use caution when working around the steering column (air bag can deploy).
REMOVE & INSTALL
STEERING WHEEL HORN PAD R & & I Delete (all models except the stealth & 3000GT)
1) remove the Horn pad. The Galant push Horn pad to the top of the steering wheel for deletion. The PRECIS push and turn the Horn pad Assembly for deletion and disconnect the Horn switch header. On all models of screw or pry Horn pad from the steering wheel.
2) on all models, place the mark on the steering wheel and the steering shaft, column for the Assembly reference. Remove the steering wheel, nuts and washers. By using the thrust of the steering wheel, steering wheel.
Warning: do not hammer at the steering wheel during removal, as this may damage the steering column.
Installation
To install, modify the uninstall procedure. Verify that the markings are aligned. Tighten the steering wheel while retaining nut specifications.
Delete (Stealth & 3000GT)
1) in provision should set the front wheels. Remove the ignition key. Disconnect the negative battery and cover with tape. Wait 30 seconds before proceeding.
Warning: Please wait at least 30 seconds after disconnecting the battery prior to SRS components. You should not use excessive force when you disconnect the airbag clockspring connector.
2) remove the air module mounting nuts on the back side of the steering wheel. See Figure. 1. remove the airbag module. When you click the clockspring air lock to the external side to spread open. See Figure. 2. carefully remove the connector with a screwdriver.
3) Place a pillow in a clean, dry area with cover seal face up. Place the mark on the steering wheel and the steering shaft, column for the Assembly reference. Remove the steering wheel, nuts and washers. By using the thrust of the steering wheel, steering wheel.
Warning: do not hammer at the steering wheel during removal. Steering column may be corrupted.
